Takedown notice

Under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), your written notice must include:

  • A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act for the owner of the right
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed, or a representative list
  • Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and enough information to locate it, such as a link
  • Your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law
  • A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner

When we receive a valid notice we remove or disable access to the material promptly and tell the user who stored it. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f).

Counter-notice

If your material was removed by mistake or misidentification, send a written counter-notice to the agent above with:

  • Your physical or electronic signature
  • Identification of the removed material and where it was before removal
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification
  • Your name, address and telephone number, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any district where we may be found), and your agreement to accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice

We forward a valid counter-notice to the person who complained. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we received your counter-notice.

Repeat infringer policy

We end the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. A user who receives more than one valid takedown notice for different material may be treated as a repeat infringer, and we may also limit or end an account after a single serious or willful infringement. Removed accounts are kept from coming back.
